The Forum for Five Pearl River Delta Airports
To strengthen the communication and co-operation between the five airports in the Pearl River Delta, the first PRD A5 Forum was held at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) 27 July 2001. Participating airports included Guangzhou Baiyuan International airport, HKIA, Shenzhen Baoan International airport, Macau International airport and Zhuhai airport. It was also agreed that two meetings will be organised, hosted by each airport in turn, every year.
Recognising that the A5 Airports together will play a key role in the economic growth of the Pearl River Delta, delegates discussed the roles of each airport in the PRD, especially in enhancing the region’s economic development. They agreed to work together in the many areas of common interest, including cross-boundary issues, tourism, intermodal transport links, future developments in China’s domestic and international aviation industry, and China’s entry to the World Trade Organisation. The forum also agreed to establish emergency co-ordination and support, and joint promotion working sub-groups.
The second A5 Forum was held in Shenzhen 27 March 2002, at which delegates:
