Chairman Deng Jun of CAM Received Group CEO of Air Asia Mr. Tony Fernandes and his Delegation18 Sep 2017

Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), Dr. Deng Jun led the company management to extend a warm welcome to the Group CEO of Air Asia, Mr. Tony Fernandes and his delegation on 13th September, 2017. In the meeting, both sides expressed thankfulness to each other for the continual support throughout the last 13 years. Both parties have in-depth discussion on the future development; hope to enhance the collaboration space.

In the meeting, Dr. Deng Jun stated that Air Asia has established cooperation relationship with MIA since 2004, the operation model introduced by Air Asia breakthrough the traditional and added in new elements to MIA.  By then, Air Asia and MIA grow up with complementation of each other. Up to now, Air Asia is the 2nd largest airlines serving in MIA.  In the very beginning, Air Asia with only 2 aircrafts operating 6 routes, now they have owned more than 200 aircrafts, operating 280 routes which covered 20 countries and cities and transported around 400 millions of tourists per year, Air Asia was awarded “The Best LCC in the World” for 9 consecutive years.  The above figure, showed the success and the rapid development of Air Asia in the last 13 years. MIA has confident on the future cooperation with Air Asia to reach another milestone.  Group CEO of Air Asia, Mr. Tony Fernandes expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support given by MIA throughout the pass years, he stated that upon the completion of the large-scale infrastructure in Macau, for example the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and the Light Rail Transit, he was confident on the development of Macau market, and will input more resources to create more new international routes connecting Macau and worldwide, using MIA’s existing air network to bring passengers to different part of the world.  Mr. Fernandes also stated that Air Asia is planning to expand the destinations from MIA to different part of the world, provide more options for travelers and stimulate the growth of tourist numbers.
