MIA Breaks the monthly New Record in August, Summer increased 9% Compare with Last Year19 Sep 2017

Macau International Airport (MIA) experienced its busiest month ever in August 2017, in which to reach over the 680,000 passenger movements mark for the first time in the airport’s history, and this is a new record as the highest single month passenger traffic with average daily passenger volume over 22,000, gaining 9% compared with last year.  There were over 5,000 aircraft movement in August, 1% more than the same period of last year. During the summer vacation (July to August), MIA recorded a total of more than 1.35 million passenger volume and over 10,000 flight movements, increased 9% and 2.5% respectively. In between, passenger market of Southeast Asia routes continue to perform well in August and taking up 43% of the overall market, followed by Mainland China and China Taiwan routes passenger, accounting for 32% and 25% respectively.

 

As the volume of the current flights and passengers is steadily increasing, the capacity of airport terminal has exceeded the limit of its own design, therefore, MIA is actively expanding the passenger terminal to meet the needs of passengers. Up to the end of August 2017, MIA handles around 1,140 weekly scheduled flights with 28 airlines connecting Macau to 45 cities. Currently, MIA is actively expanding the development of medium and long haul routes, such as the new added Indonesia Jakarta and to keep the seasonal regular charter service directly from Macau to Russia. By the fourth quarter of this year and early next year, it is expected to have new carriers and new routes in Southeast Asia to join the operation. 

 

Summer is a peak season of traveling.  Apart from ensuring the safety, efficiency and effectiveness, MIA has vivified the airport public space with joyous elements of summer vacation in July and August.  A series of interactive performances is arranged at MIA in this period, hopes to create more fun and unforgettable memories for our passengers.
