Macau International Airport Representatives Participated in the 6th China Low Cost Carriers Summit 201931 Oct 2019

The 6th China Low Cost Carriers Summit 2019 organized by Summit Asia Events, took place in Shanghai from 24th – 25th October 2019, with the theme of “How LCCs can fly higher in China: regulations, strategies and business models”. Ms. Elizabeth Cheong and Mr. Edman Lee, Deputy Directors of Marketing Department of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) represented to attend this event. The summit attracted over 300 delegates from airlines, airports, travel agencies, investment banks, consultancies, technology providers and other industry stakeholders from more than 30 regions and countries.

 

Macau International Airport (MIA) has more than 1,450 flights per week, O&D passengers account for 93% of the total passengers at the airport. Passengers who choose to take legacy airlines grew by approximately 14% compared with the same period last year, while those who chose to take the low-cost airlines increased by 23%, Low-cost airlines at MIA have developed ideally, with an average passenger load rate nearly 80%. It is estimated that the number of passengers will exceed 9.5 million in 2019.

 

The 6th China Low Cost Carriers Summit provide opportunity to MIA to showcase its products and services to delegates and also a good channel to further communicate with more low-cost airlines. Among the topics discussed at the summit, including "China's low-cost aviation development prospects", "How does LCCs contribute to the development of a hub airport?" and " The future of LCCs flying long-haul " allow us to in depth more about the current situation of China's low-cost aviation market and at the same time, it will help MIA improve its service quality in the development of low-cost carrier market.
