Tigerair Taiwan Inaugural Flight Ceremony for Macau – Taichung Service29 Mar 2017





Tigerair Taiwan commenced regular flight service between Macau and Taichung on 29th March 2017, offering daily flight service between the two cities.  An inaugural flight ceremony was held at Macau International Airport (MIA). Through Tigerair Taiwan inaugurate regular daily flight to Taichung, the route network between China Taiwan and Macau will be more integrated.  In additional to providing China Taiwan visitors more convenient channel to reach Macau from the northern, middle and southern island of China Taiwan, it will also benefit the resident of Macau and tourists from the Pearl River Delta region travelling to Taiwan.  The inauguration of this Taichung services is in time to satisfy the Easter Holiday peak season for travel in coming April.

Executive Director of Macau International Airport Co., Ltd (CAM) Mr. Jackson Tsui and Director of Marketing Department Mr. Eric Fong represented to attend the ceremony. Mr. Fong extended a very warm welcome to Tigerair Taiwan’s new air service in the ceremony on behalf of CAM. He expressed that China Taiwan is an important source market of Macau with the growth of Taiwan residents’ outbound travel and is also a popular destination among local residents. According to statistics, the Taiwan passenger of MIA posted a year growth of 15% in 2016. There are 1 Macau based and 3 Taiwan airlines operating flights services between Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Macau. MIA will continue to work in close relation with airlines to explore with new route opportunity.

Tigerair Taiwan is an airline with its head office in Taipei. It is a Taiwan-based low cost carrier (LCC) wholly owned by China Airlines.  Tigerair Taiwan operates with a fleet of 10 brand new Airbus A320 aircrafts with average less than 2 years of services.  It has significantly improved the service quality to passenger.  Tigerair Taiwan has a network strategy that focuses on Southeast and Northeast Asia.  The current route network of Tigerair Taiwan includes four countries and regions such as Japan and South Korea in Northeast Asia, Macau in Greater China and Thailand in Southeast Asia.  Tigerair Taiwan is the Taiwan-based low cost carrier with the largest passenger volume and market shares in China's Taiwan aviation market.  In 2016, Tigerair Taiwan had uplifted 1.41 million passengers which accounted for 20% of overall market share.
