MIA Recorded Continuous Growth in the Month of March

In March, Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded continuous growth on passenger traffic volume and aircraft movements.  Passenger volume surpassed 440,000 and aircraft movements over 4,200, representing both 10% increase respectively comparing to the same period of last year.  For the first quarter, MIA received over 1.28 million passengers and recorded 12,500 aircraft movements, up 10% comparing to the same quarter last year which indicating the growth of passenger market is stabilized while the frequencies and the destinations added are becoming more diversified.  On the other hand, the Southeast Asia market presented slightly decline due to the unstable factor of some political situation.  Meanwhile the mainland China and China Taiwan market performed well respectively with 20% and 14% increase compared with the same period.

 

Jetstar Pacific Airlines launched Da Nang and Hanoi service starting on the 28th March 2014, providing 14 air services per week between Da Nang to Macau and dailyservices between Hanoi to Macau. Xiamen airlines also launched the flight from Dalian to Macau via Hangzhou on 30thMarch.  There are 20 airlines operating 37 destinations at MIA currently and the new routes are expected to bring more international passengers to Macau.  MIA will continue to work closely and strengthen cooperation with the airlines and tourism sector, to promote the “One Stop, Travel more Destinations” market strategy to expand world route market.
