Vietnam Airlines Launched Air Service from Da Nang to Macau

The first flight of Vietnam Airlines from Da Nang arrived at Macau International Airport on the 26th April 2012, providing twice service per week between Macau and Da Nang. An inaugural flight ceremony was held at the Macau International Airport and was attended by honorable guests including: Consulate General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Guangzhou, Mr. SU Guojun; Director of Airport Infrastructure and Air Navigation of Civil Aviation Authority of Macau SAR, Mr. Kevin Lam; Head of Destination Marketing Department of Macau Government Tourist Office, Ms. Betty Fok; Director of Marketing Department representing CAM - Macau International Airport Co., Ltd., Mr. Eric Fong; General Manager for Southern China of Vietnam Airlines, Mr. Vu Manh Cuong; Director General Manager of Da Nang Vacation Co., Ltd., Mr. Wu Da Hai, and Chairman of Di Wei Long Investment (Macau) Co., Ltd., Ms. Wong Siu Leng.

Vietnam Airlines is the second carrier that launches new route service to Macau in April 2012. As the country’s national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines is one of the most modern fleets in the region owning 70 aircrafts, and operating network to over 50 cities throughout Asia, USA and Europe. The airline is making solid steps integrating into the global aviation industry as a truly regional carrier of choice, which is fully ingrained with Vietnamese traditional culture.

Mr. Eric Fong, Director of Marketing Department of CAM mentioned, as at the end of April 2012 , Macau International Airport’s passenger traffic volume and aircraft movements recorded a growth of 8.5% and 2.3% respectively comparing to the same period of last year. Traffic from Mainland China and Southeast Asia recorded a 36% and 3.4% growth respectively. Market Share of Southeast Asia occupies 37%, Mainland China 33% , and Taiwan 30% . He mentioned that direct flight operation is the aspiration for both Macau and Da Nang tourism market. It is believed that with the launch of the flight service, it will attract more tourists to both cities, and strengthen the cooperation in the routes development.

Da Nang is the fourth largest city in Vietnam with an area of nearly 940 km². The city is famed for its beautiful seashore and international port. As located in the central of Vietnam, Da Nang is easily accessible to the World Heritage sites namely Hue, Hoi An and My Son Cham Ruins. Da Nang - the Oriental Hawaii by Western Tourists, there are numerous international hotels and golf clubs, and is referred as one of the top 50 “ must visit place in a lifetime” nominated by National Geography.
