Chairman Dr. Deng Jun Invited To Attend the 2011 China Civil Aviation Development Forum

On May 11 at 8:30 a.m., the “2011 China Civil Aviation Development Forum”, organized by the Civil Aviation Management Institute of China, was successfully convened in the China World Summit Wing Conference Hall in Beijing. Mr. Xia Xinghua, Deputy Administrator of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), chaired the forum and Mr. Li Jiaxiang, CAAC Administrator, presented his speech. More than 600 representatives from over 20 countries and regions attended the two-day forum. Dr. Deng Jun - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macau International Airport Limited Company (CAM), Ms. Yuan Weifang - Chief Representative of Beijing Office and Ms. Katy Lo - Chief of Executive Committee Office were invited to participate in the forum.

The year of 2011 is the first year for the country’s Twelfth Five-Year Plan and the coming five years will be the critical period for China’s civil aviation industry to seek for changes in development, enhance development in changes and implement strengthening strategies. Changes in development are a commonly-concerned issue for the future global aviation industry. The theme for this year’s forum is “development of civil aviation industry and economic transformation”. In the forum, speakers discussed the macro policy environment issues of China’s civil aviation industry, including Mr. Raymond Benjamin - Secretary-General of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Ms. Susan Kurland - Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs, U.S. Department of Transportation, Mr. Matthew Baldwin - Director for Air Transport of European Union, Mr. Michael Huerta - Deputy Administrator of U.S. Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), Mr. Yap Ong Heng - Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, discussed the major common issues and changes to the global aviation industry in the coming five years respectively. Mr. Zhang Shaochun - Vice Minister for Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wu Xiao - Deputy Director General of Department of Industry, National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Song Enhua – Vice Governor of Hebei Province, Mr. Zhang Dawei - Vice Governor of Henan Province, Mr. Tong Xiaoping - Deputy Mayor of Chongqing Municipality and Ms. Song Airong - Party Standing Committee Member of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They proposed to play functional role of public finance, vigorously promote the development of civil aviation industry and across the world, as well as build a new transitional engine of regional economic development for construction of central hub and acceleration to a modern aviation city.

Representatives of the air transport enterprises talked over the changing pattern of airline profitability, speakers including Mr. Kong Dong - Chairman of Air China Limited, Mr. Liu Shaoyong - General Manager of China Eastern Air Holding Company, Mr. Will Ris - Senior Vice President of Government Airlines, American Airlines, Mr. Pieter J.Th. Elbers - Chief Operating Officer of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Mr. Richard Jewsbury - Senior Vice President of Emirates gave their speech respectively.

Prospecting the airports changing developments, speakers including Mr. Dong Zhiyi - General Manager of Capital Airports Holding Company, Mr. Michael Kerkloh - President and Chief Executive Officer of Munich Airport, Germany, Mr. Li Derun - General Manager of Shanghai Airport Group and Mr. Paul Griffiths - Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports discussed and presented the quality development of airports, the new features, way of transformation and the new growth mode.

The China Civil Aviation Development Forum acts as an exchange platform for high-levels in the aviation industry. This 5th forum attracted leaders and experts from the world aviation governments, international organizations and aviation enterprises to deliver their excellent speeches on topics influencing long-term development of the aviation industry, having extensive exchange on the hot topics which have significant impact and achieved great success.
