The Airport Cities World Conference and Exhibition 2011 was held in the Peabody hotel, Memphis from 11th to 14th April.  The Senior Assistant to the Chairman and Director of Logistic Cargo Development Department of CAM- Mr. Cui Guang and Deputy Director of Logistic Cargo Development Department of CAM- Mr. Franco Kwan had attended the Conference and hence visited FedEx Global Hub in Memphis International Airport.

The Conference was hosted by an American Aerotropolis in Memphis, this Conference provided attendees an opportunity to understand the latest development trend of airport city.  Seminars and symposiums topics included were Smart Airport Cities; New Financial Models for Airport City Investment; Mixed Land Use & Commercial Property Development Around Airports; Non-Aeronautical Revenue Streams; Integrated Aerotropolis Transport System; and Cargo & Logistics Centers.

FedEx arranged a trip to this unique cargo hub for the attendees of the Conference to have a better understanding of its operation and history. The FedEx Corporation established its headquarters at Memphis International Airport in 1973 and is now processing an average of 3.3 million packages per day.  Over 12,000 employees are working there to support the operation of the world class air cargo hub.

Memphis International Airport was the busiest cargo airport in the world for 18 consecutive years until it was exceeded by Hong Kong International Airport in 2010.  Memphis also serves as a passenger hub for Delta Air Lines.
