Chairman of the Executive Committee Dr. Deng Jun extended a warm welcome to the CAAC Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Civil Aviation Development and Planning Research Team in MIA on 17th June, 2019. The delegation of nine was led by Mr. Mu Yang, Researcher of the Development and Planning Department and Mr. Liu Wei Min, Deputy Director of the Central and Southern Regional Management Bureau. After the discussion during the meeting, the delegation visited Macau International Airport, through which the visitors not only have enhanced the recognition of MIA, but listened overall the development status-quo of Macau’s Aviation Industry under the National Greater Bay Area Planning.
Having been bearing the goal of Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness, Macau International Airport has walked through twenty-four years of the operation, Dr. Deng Jun said, recalling that many qualified Air Traffic Controllers from CAAC were once successfully trained by MIA where has been the interchanging platform for China and Portuguese-Speaking countries. MIA also took the lead to have established regional cooperation mechanism with the peripheral airports, which has been recognized the most successful of the category up-to date. On the other hand, MIA earned indelible merit on initiating the air navigational channel between Taiwan and Mainland China, as well as on facilitating the cooperation and development between Macau and both East and North Asia countries and regions. Meanwhile, defined as a World Tourism and Leisure Center, Macau is to continue going through more transformation in hope of achieving the economy diversity in the future, and the development of its aviation industry is definitely the key. “The position of MIA is Base in Macau, Back on Motherland and Face to World”, as quoted by the Chairman who emphasized the collaboration between CAAC and MIA is close and long-term, expecting CAAC to continue extending full support to the all-round development of MIA from the respect of politics, economy and aviation industry.
During meeting, Ms. Winnie Hsu, Director of Planning and Commercial Department (PCD) introduced Macau’s economy and its development orientation, MIA’s positioning and operational policy as well as its development planning. Mr. Eric Fong, Director of Marketing Department (MKD) presented the MIA’s marketing development and Greater Bay’s V-Terminal construction, analyzing Macau’s reception capacity over both the hotel room’s availability and viable transportation means by air, land and sea. Mr. Sandro Kou, Director of Infrastructure Development Department (IFD) also elaborated on the South Terminal Extension Project along with the Planning for the future air-land-sea transportation hub.
An airport visit was organized for the research team following the meeting, which enhanced their recognition of MIA’s management and operations. The research team affirmed that Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area construction is the new national strategy defined by the Central Government, and the development of Macau’s Aviation Industry prioritizes over that of Macau’s economy. Lauding the precisely-defined strategic position of MIA together with the huge development potentiality, the delegates expressed their continuous all-out support in the future.
