CAM Representatives Attended the First Meeting of the Asia and Pacific ANSP Committee (AAC/1) of ICAO

CAM representative attended the first Meeting of the Asia and Pacific Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) Committee (AAC/1), hosted by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Asia Pacific Regional Office that was held at its Office in Bangkok, Thailand from 17th to 18th April 2023, with a total of 69 representatives from 20 States/ Regions in Asia Pacific (APAC) Region, and 14 representatives from 3 international organizations/industry partners. As the only ANSP certificate holder in Macau SAR, Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) had representatives to participate the meeting together with the representative from Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM).

ICAO Asia and Pacific ANSP Committee was set up in July 2022 in Incheon South Korea, according to the decision of the 57th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for cooperation in the implementation of regional Air Navigation Service (ANS) initiatives including the ICAO Asia Pacific Seamless ANS Plan, and for the purpose of aligning the activities of the committee with the Asia Pacific Seamless ANS Plan and informing Asia Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG) and DGCA Conference of activities and progress. The objectives of the APAC ANSP Committee are for the ANSPs of States in the APAC region to work closely with each other, and with Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs), in order to accelerate the recovery and the development of regional ANS initiatives in anticipation of traffic growth with a safe, efficient and sustainable manner.

At this meeting, through working paper or technical paper (WP/TP), member states had also shared the pressures and challenges facing in the future for air navigation service, the application of digital technology in air traffic services, the application of remote control tower technology in air traffic control and airport operations, etc. The Committee decided in the meeting to set up four work-stream (WS) for the follow up actions:

(1) WS 1 Investment: Step up investments in ANS capacity and capabilities and share requirements and best practices in the procurement of ANS systems;

(2) WS 2 Implementation: Accelerate the development and implementation of Seamless Air Traffic Management (ATM) and collaborate on green initiatives to enhance ATM Sustainability;

(3) WS 3 Contingency: Collaborate on business continuity and contingency planning;

(4) WS 4 Oceanic Working Group: Formation of an Oceanic Working Group specifically focusing on the operations of the oceanic ANSPs.
