Director of Airport Operations Department (AOD) of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), Mr. Gary Geng and delegation received Mr. Xu Wenjie, Director of the Institute of Free Trade Innovation, Hengqin Institute of Innovation and Development (HQIID) of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone and his delegation on 1st March 2024. Both parties exchanged views on the low-altitude airspace economic development status of the Greater Bay Area and the feasibility of collaborative development of low-altitude airspace economy between Macau and Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Mr. Geng warmly welcomed Director Xu and his delegation to Macau International Airport (MIA) for exchanges, and introduced the company structure and management characteristics of CAM, including providing Airport Operation Management and Air Traffic Services, etc. At present, the airport business is developing steadily and orderly. CAM is actively following up on the MIA Expansion Reclamation Project and the replacement project of airport communication, navigation and surveillance equipment and systems has been kicked-off. All these aim to expand overall equipment capacity and system support capabilities and assurance in order to meet the needs of future development. During the exchange meeting, CAM representatives responded the questions raised by the institute and introduced in detail for the airspace classification in Macau and relevant management rules, the development trend of low-altitude airspace economy in the Greater Bay Area, the past experience in ensuring the development of low-altitude general aviation business of MIA, and ideas and suggestions on strengthening cooperation between Macau and Hengqin in the future.
CAM delegates attended the meeting included: Mr. Dicky Chu, Director of Operations Branch of AOD, Mr. Hoover Hu, Senior Head of Air Traffic Service Division, Ms. Pricilla Cheong, Advisor to Head of Air Traffic Service Division and Mr. Niki Chou, Head of Operations Safety & Standards Service. Delegates from HQIID included: Ms. Wu Yingyin, Ms. Liu Xintong and Mr. Liu Yaowen, Researcher.
