Representatives of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) attended the Twenty-first Meeting of the ICAO Asia-Pacific Regional Aviation Safety Team (APRAST) held by the International Civil Organization (ICAO) Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand from 11th to 15th March 2024, more than 60 representatives from 18 States and 10 industries members participated the meeting. Mr. Justin, Ip Seng Chao, Safety Manager of CAM participated the meeting together with the representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) and Air Macau.
At the meeting, through working papers and working group discussions, States/Administration Regions shared experiences, encouraged member States to implement national safety plans, and proposed interventions to reduce aviation risks. The recommendations can be implemented through coordinated efforts between regulators and service providers, airlines and aircraft manufacturers. APRAST reviews regional accidents, significant incident trends and other areas of the region concern to determine the potential needs for developing relevant measures. Representatives from various States/Administration Regions actively discussed the focus and priorities of safety matters to introduce, support and formulate potential, effective and economical safety measures and actions so as to reduce aviation hazards and risks. Meanwhile, relevant runway incursion safety incidents and related gap analysis were discussed to increase the attention of States and Regions on runway safety in the safety enhancement initiatives group.
