Rescue Boat “Sai Van” To Operate to Support Sea Rescue near the Airport

The Maritime and Water Affairs Bureau conducted a blessing ceremony at the Government Dock for the new rescue boat "Sai Van" under the jurisdiction of Secretary for Transport and Public Works Mr. Raimundo Arrais do Rosário and the Director of the Maritime Bureau, Huang Suiwen on 12th July 2018 at 3pm. Dr. Deng Jun, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited was invited to attend the ceremony. According to reports, the "Sai Van" will be responsible for the security and search and rescue work of the sea near Macau International Airport.

 

According to the Maritime and Water Affairs Bureau, the rescue boat “Sai Van” is an aluminum alloy catamaran with a length of 25.5 meters, width of 7.8 meters, full-load displacement of 88 tons, and wind-resistant capacity of 8 grades. The water-jet propulsion method is adopted. With a speed of 30 knots, it can realize low-speed in-situ rotation and translation, flexible operation and safe use. The "Sai Van" is equipped with advanced search and rescue equipment, including thermal night vision system, large floodlights, medical room, life raft, stretcher bed lifting platform and helicopter lifting area, which will effectively strengthen the fleet strength of the Maritime and Water Affairs Bureau and further enhance the maritime search and rescue capabilities of the sea managed in Macau.
