Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) officially launched the public bidding for RFQ-245 "Design & Build of Passenger Terminal Building South Extension at MIA" on 23rd August 2018.
The number of passengers in the Macau International Airport (MIA) has continued to rise in recent years. In line with the future development of MIA, the north area of MIA Passenger Terminal Building was completed and officially commenced at the beginning of this year. The capacity of the airport passenger terminal has been raised from 6 million to 7.8 million passengers per year, and the number of boarding bridges has been increased from 4 to 5. A significant increase was recorded in passenger volume in the first half of 2018, with a total volume of 4 million passengers, an increase of 20% over the same period of last year. In order to maintain the sustainable development of the airport, the tender is for the selection of experienced companies to carry out the design and build works, including a three-storey space extension of approximately 17,100 square meters on the south side of the existing passenger terminal (including structural engineering, construction, electromechanical system equipment installation, interior decoration etc.) to increase the passenger terminal space of the terminal building, offices, commercial catering area, VIP room and other facilities, and build 3 new boarding bridges after the completion of the project. The capacity of the overall passenger terminal of MIA will be expanded up to 10 million passengers per year.
