Macau’s Tourism Industry is growing rapidly in recent years and the traveling demand for residents are increasing simultaneously, therefore, to provide a better traveling experience, Macau International Airport Co. Ltd (CAM) has organized a technical site visit to Haneda Airport and Kansai International Airport in late April of 2016. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Shin Suzawa, Managing director of Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation and Mr. Hideo Ichida, Corporate Executive Vice President of Kansai Airports.
During the visit in Haneda, Ms. Satoko Mori, Manager of Corporate Planning had introduced us the corporate structure, management pattern and the design concept of Haneda Airport and organized a site tour to observe the commercial and infrastructure facilities, which included: “EDO KO-JI” which is a commercial area that reproduced the town streets of the “EDO” period, Haneda Nihonbashi Bridge which is half the size of the real one, observation deck provides an open space that can enjoy close view of planes landing and take offs, barrier-free passenger boarding bridge and multipurpose toilet for disables. Besides, the delegation had visited the Eco-friendly systems and exchanged ideas and experience with representative of Haneda about how to construct a green airport.
The delegation then went to Kansai International Airports for further observation, representative from Kansai Airports, Mr. Toshiyuki Sueyoshi has explained the environmental infrastructure, which included: Megasolar, one of the largest installations at any Asian airport, Hydrogen Gas Station which was officially operated from January of 2016. It was a first of any airport in Japan and was built on the second-phase airport island, this hydrogen fueling not only applied to the fuel cell car, it motivated the advantages of environmental policies and reduced emission. The delegation also visited Terminal 2 in Kansai International Airport which was awarded the World’s Best Low Cost Terminal in 2015, to understand the development of Low cost carrier in Osaka and characteristic of the terminal. Then we have visited the Duty Free area in Terminal 1, to know more about the operation pattern and management policies of the shops.
Through these site visits to Haneda and Kansai Airport, CAM delegates had exchanged views and ideas of airport’s operation and management pattern, rental management of the commercial streets and varieties of products, facilities and infrastructure to construct a green airport. The above discussion and views have positive effect to the future development of MIA.
