The World Low Cost Airlines Congress Asia 2016 took place at Singapore from 23rd -24th February, 2016. The event attracted over 2000 attendees from the region’s aviation community and 150 industry leading speakers gave speeches in the two days festival. Mr. Eric Fong, Director of Marketing Department, and Mr. Daniel Lam, Assistant Manager of Marketing Department of Macau International Airport Co., Ltd. (CAM) represented to attend this event. The event provided a platform and occasion for professionals to meet by keynote interviews, interactive roundtables, workshops and plenty of networking opportunities.
Meetings were arranged with various airlines to explore new business opportunities. They met and consulted with several airlines including Mr. Wang Zhenghua, President of Spring Airlines and Ms. Serena Zhang, General Manager of Spring International Travel Service Ltd., both expressed that the Spring Airlines is currently expanding the network of Spring Airlines Japan. Taking this opportunity, CAM representatives proposed Spring Airlines to consider launching of new service between Japan and Macau, since there is a high demand of travelling to Japan. Spring Airlines expressed that they will take our suggestions into consideration, and will perform evaluations on Macau market. CAM will focus and strengthen cooperation with Spring Airlines Japan. Besides, our representatives also met with potential airlines for further cooperation, to study the possibility to launch long haul service in Macau.
This congress provides a useful platform for MIA, to strengthen connections with airlines, seek for opportunities and have better understanding of the development and contribution of low-cost airline in Asia.
