In order to ensure the baggage handling facility can cope with the growing demand of passenger traffic, Macau International Airport has executed the upgrades of baggage handling system project since October 2012. The project is currently in the construction stage. Since this project involves various complex technical areas, operational experience of similar types of baggage handling systems in other international airports are of prime importance for Macau International Airport in the field of operation and security procedure of the forthcoming new baggage handling system. In view of this, CAM - Macau International Airport Company. Limited has invited AACM - Macau Civil Aviation Authority and related entities to visit the baggage handling system of Melbourne Airport, Gold Coast Airport and Brisbane International Airport in Australia, as well as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 under construction in Malaysia on 8th– 15thJune 2013. This trip included visits of baggage handling system in the construction site, large and medium-sized baggage handling system operation, which enhance understanding of relevant security and maintenance management processes. Delegation has received warm reception by Mr. Adam Freebairn - Asset and Facilities Manager of Melbourne International Airport, Mr. Paul Donovan - Chief Executive Officer of Gold Coast International Airport and other relevant personnel from baggage handling system operation. Through this visit, the delegation has received more updated insights of the current operating procedure of baggage handling system in the airports of Asia-Pacific region. This is critical for preparing the future new baggage handling system operations in Macau International Airport.
The delegation includes Mr. Luis Sobral - Senior Safety Officer of Airport Infrastructure and Navigation of AACM, Mr. Tony Lam - Deputy Director and Mr. Henry Wong - Project Executive of Infrastructure Development Department of CAM, Mr. Leo Mok, Deputy Operation Director and Mr. Albano Albuquerque, Security Manager of ADA - Administration of Airports Limited.
