In order to improve Macau International Airport’s facilities and create a convenient, high-tech, environmental-friendly and culturally enriched airport, CAM-Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. has recently launched the “Macau International Airport – Environmental Optimization Design Competition”. After the launch in mid-September, it receives popular response from the public. A briefing session was held at CAM office on 7th Oct 2012, along with a site visit to airport passenger terminal building. Around 40 people participated in the briefing and site visit.
Speakers from the organizer, CAM, gave a detailed explanation of the competition contents in terms of objectives, design themes, design areas, application methods and eligibility etc. A Q&A session was also held during the briefing. A site visit was undertaken in the Passenger Terminal Building after the briefing, covering departure and the arrival hall landside and airside area. The visit allowed attendees to further conceptualize the design under visually inspected the actual airport environment.
The competition will offer three awards, with cash prizes of MOP$100,000.00, MOP$50,000.00 and MOP$20,000.00 respectively. Applicants must be Macao residents and possess registered architect certificate issued by Macau Government. Contestants can apply as individual or group entry. For those who have not participated the briefing session and site visit are also welcome to join the competition.
