Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Dr. Deng Jun and his delegation paid a business visit to Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) East China Regional Administration Mr. Jiang Chunshui in Shanghai on 1st November 2021, while epidemic prevention and control works and related experience in field of civil aviation were exchanged, and deepen understanding on the policy development direction of East China as the largest civil aviation market in Macau.
During the visit, Chairman Deng expressed sincere thanks to CAAC East China Regional Administration for fully supporting to the development of Macau’s civil aviation industry. Macau International Airport has always been adhering to the SAR Government’s anti-pandemic strategy of “guarding against the importation of cases and the resurgence of domestic infections”, maintaining vigilance and high attention while reminding employees to guard the defensive line with due diligence and constantly inspect to plug loopholes. At the meantime, it is necessary to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, and pay attention to the development of market trends. The passenger traffic of Macau International Airport exceeded 1 million in the first ten months of 2021, returning to 13% of traffic before the pandemic. Amongst, the Shanghai route increased to an average of 12 round-trip flights per day in July, has been resumed to that before the pandemic. At present, the civil aviation market mainly resumes routes to the Mainland, in which passenger traffic volume on East China routes accounts for about 80%, such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Ningbo. Meanwhile, strict prevention and control measures have been enforcing in the Mainland and Macau during the pandemic, ensuring routes of East China to maintain the leisure travel connection between the East China regions and Macau.
Director Jiang said that the epidemic prevention and control work strive for timeliness, precision, scientificity and effectiveness, and all units should quickly organize and implement the work requirements of CAAC; what can be invested should be invested and what can be transformed should be transformed. He added that support from local health commission is requested, and quarantine requirements are embedded into civil aviation business processes, with the principle of “make up for shortcomings, leaving no blind angle” and “scientific precision, dynamic improvement” have been adhered persistently. The scientific nature of prevention and control strategies, the accuracy of prevention and control measures, and the effectiveness of prevention and control results should be effectively improved; while “three-dimension supervision” is carried out, comprehensive management of “prevention”, “control” and “emergency response” is implemented to build a tight network for epidemic prevention and control. Shanghai Airport had a set of standards for prevention and control measures, and support and advice from the Health Commission are invited. In response to the outbreak before, 6,000 employees were ever put under centralized management and quarantined. Therefore, there can be no omissions on the details in terms of work requirement. CAAC East China Regional Administration will continue to actively encourage airlines to resume flights to Macau in light of the market situation and continue to provide support and assistance for the recovery of the civil aviation industry of Macau.
