The press conference about “Airport Fire Service and Safety Works” was held by Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. (CAM) at Macau International Airport on 30th Mar 2017. Corpo de Bombeiros (CB) was invited to brief fire service and safety works at airport to media. After the press conference, a fire drill of simulator was demonstrated to strengthen the understanding of fire service.
CB airport station is responsible for the rescue and firefighting work of sea and land area surrounding the scope of the airport and runway stretch within 1000 meters, which requires manipulating the firefighting facilities proficiently and be familiar with the structural characteristics of aircrafts. According to the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), fire trucks will get to the end of each runway or other movement area within 3 minutes after receiving the alarm.
Chefe-ajudante Chan Kuok Tong - Chefe da Divisão do Aeroporto do CB introduced the equipment and their daily training. Emergency rescue drill was held regularly to improve the cooperative and reaction capacity of emergency disposal, and to handle accidents quickly and efficiently. Chefe-ajudante Lam Io Fan - Chefe Substituto do Departamento de Estudo e Planeamento do CB, replied media’s questions together afterwards. Following with the press conference, media were arranged to watch a simulator fire drill at the simulation training center, and firefighters rescued trapped passengers from the aircraft. The practice aims to improve public understanding of the airport fire safety work and strengthen the consciousness of public fire safety awareness.
