Entering in the Year of Pig, MIA Sets New Passenger Traffic Record in CNY!11 Feb 2019

Macau International Airport (MIA) had the busiest Chinese New Year in 2019.  During the holidays from 5th to 10th February 2019 (1st to 6th day of Lunar Year), MIA welcomed 180,000 passengers and handled over 1,300 flight movements, both grew by 18% respectively comparing to the traffic of 2018 CNY. MIA also sets new records in daily passenger volume on 10th February 2019 (i.e. 6th day of Lunar Year), recorded over 32,100 passenger traffic volume, which breaks single-day record since the operation of MIA.

MIA has expanded our air network by adding 3 new international routes in early 2019, including Wenzhou of China, Chiang Rai of Thailand and Cebu of Philippines.  China Southern Airlines and Juneyao Airlines will also add new routes to Macau in the second quarter of 2019.  In the second and third quarter of this year, it is expected that MIA will continue to have new carriers gradually adding new routes and operations to Macau.  At the same time the extra flights during CNY was tripled over last year.

To enrich the seasonal atmosphere, MIA embellished the terminal building with festive CNY decorations, and also arranged a series of CNY themed activities at the terminal; including God of Fortune blessings, distributing good fortune bags, singing and musical instruments performance at the airport, and etc., adding to the joyful festive spirit at MIA.

Macau International Airport wishes you all good luck, great success and all the best in the Year of Pig.
