Celebrating Macau\'s Handover with the Macau International Airport Fifteenth Year Anniversary - An Exhibition of Macau Contemporary Art15 Dec 2010

Macau International Airport organizes "Celebrating Macau’s Handover with the Macau International Airport Fifteenth Year Anniversary - An Exhibition of Macau Contemporary Art" at the airside of departure hall on 15 December in order to showcase the local artwork to visitors, thereby disseminating the message of a "culture airport". Total 30 pieces of painstaking contemporary artworks have been specially selected composed by 15 local artists in order to display the charm of Macau’s unique cultural blend to local and tourists all over the world. The Contemporary Art exhibition is organized by Macau International Airport Co. Ltd., co-organized with Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government (ICM) and supported by Art for All Society.

An Exhibition of Macau Contemporary Art is another activity of the year that Macau International Airport Co. Ltd once again works with Government department after in conjunction with Macau Government Tourist Office & Macau Grand Prix Committee listed in the airport departure hall show’s success record in Macau Formula 3 car and motorcycle so as to deliver the charm and artistic atmosphere of Macau to tourists. Opening Ceremony held at Macau International Airport at 15 December, Dr. Deng Jun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAM, Mr. Ung Vai Meng, President of Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government (ICM), Mr. Kevin Lam, Director of Airport Infrastructure & Air Navigation of Civil Aviation Authority of Macau Special Administrative Region, Mr. Wong Ka Long, Director of Art of All Society, Dr. José Carlos Angeja, CEO of Administration of Airport Ltd., representatives of services providers and related entities attended the opening ceremony. In the opening address of Dr. Deng Jun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAM, saying that Macau International Airport as a gateway to introducing Macau to the world, An Exhibition of Macau Contemporary Art will surely enable visitors from all over the world to experience the essence of local arts and immerse themselves in the cultural ambience of Macau.

Mr. Ung Vai Meng, President of Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government (ICM), states that along with the opportunity of An Exhibition of Macau Contemporary Art at Macau International Airport, it aims to offer local residents and visitors to understand the Macau artists’ recent creative works. In order to show and make known Macau’s artistic endeavors, ICM will continue to explore new platforms for local artists.

30 pieces of painstaking contemporary artworks were composed by 15 local artists including Carlos Marreiros, Chao Chong Seng, George Chao, James Chu, James Wong, Jose Drummond, Liu Man Cheong, Mio Pang Fei, Nick Tai, Fortes Pakeong Sequeira, Pasu( Ao Ka Lon), Sylviye Lee, Xin Jing, Coke Wong, Tong Chong (Listed in no particular order). The exhibits started from 15 December until 13 February, 2011.
